JOAN MAR SAUQUÉ QUARTET

A graduate from the Torroella de Montgrí Municipal School of Music, Joan Mar Sauqué is a promising trumpet player who presented his first album, Joan Chamorro presenta Joan Mar Sauqué, at the 2016 Jazz Festival l'Estartit. After giving several concerts in L'Estartit as part of Joventuts Musicals de Torroella de Montgrí's autumn-winter-spring programme, he returns to the Jazz Festival l'Estartit with the themes that will be featured in his fourth album. Scheduled for release later this year, he continues to explore the aesthetics of his previous recording, Gone with the Wind, in which he took the jazz of the 1940s and 1950s as a starting point for developing his own themes, with sonorities moving along the scale between cool and hard bop.
