PROGRAMME

Beethoven: Concerto for piano and orchestra no. 2 in B flat major, Op. 19 / Rachmaninov: Concerto for piano and orchestra no. 2 in C minor, Op. 18

Little more than a hundred years separate the two piano concertos by Beethoven and Rachmaninov which will close the 39th Torroella de Montgrí Festival. Both works were written by pianist-composers who dazzled the audiences of their time with their displays of virtuosity, and both concerti received their first performance with the composers themselves at the piano. Only a true virtuoso could play both works in one concert, and in Torroella it will be the Sicilian Giuseppe Andaloro, a brilliant pianist of the new Italian generation of musicians, accompanied by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.

Festival de Torroella de Montgrí production. Sponsored by the Fundació Banc Sabadell and with the support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
