Pau Armengol and Èric Varas present a programme focused on the romantic lied of the 19th century and the Catalan songs of the 20th century. They open the programme with Schumann's Liederkreis song cycle Op. 24, based on poems by Heinrich Heine, inviting the audience to accompany them on an emotional journey through lovers' longing, falling out of love, remembering, abandonment, anger, and finally, bidding farewell. The second part focuses on the cultured songs of the 20th century; Lorca's texts take us to a dreamlike world that evokes fantasy, fascination, memory and, finally, farewell.
