At the age of 30, Madrid-born Pablo Ferrández is one of the best cellists of his generation. With impeccable technique, and endowed with temperament, expressiveness and authority as a soloist, Ferrández's performances are sure to guarantee a memorable evening. In his debut at the Torroella Festival, he offers a programme of high-voltage works by Rachmaninoff, including the magnificent Sonata for cello and piano in G minor, Op. 19, the programme's highlight, together with Beethoven's sonata, a highly lyrical work that holds a key place in the cello repertoire.
