Old and new dialogue of sounds

The viola da gamba player, Fahmi Alqhai and the cantaora Rocío Márquez combine early music and Flamenco in a personal selection of Flamenco songs which migrated from Andalusia into American folklore. These include chaconnes and marionas which crossed the Atlantic and appeared in the first books of music for Spanish guitar, vocal pieces with ostinato by Monteverdi, early seguiriyas, tientos, tangos and even a traditional Catalan tune – El Cant dels Ocells.
